Platform drilling and rig maintenance services contract extension awarded by BP for all its platform facilities on the Norwegian continental shelf with duration of 11 years (5 years with two 3-year options).

Purchase of TecWel, provider of cased-hole detection services and tools.

Purchase of Peak Well Solutions world leader in barrier plugs and cementing valves.

Placed an order for a new North Sea spec. modular drilling rig - Streicher-designed modular rig concept.

Office established in Houston.

Acquisition of Noble's platform drilling division in UK.

October: Seawell Ltd established by spinning off Seadrill's well services division as an independent company Seawell Limited.

January: Norwegian drilling contractor Smedvig acquired by Seadrill.

Contract for modification of the drilling facilities on the Statfjord field, a significant part of the Stafjord Late Life Project, awarded by Statoil to Seawell Engineering.

Seawell Engineering is established.

Seawell reenters the UK platform drilling market with a 4-year contract covering Shell's 12 platforms in the UK sector.
