Concept

The Seawell 400sT was conceived as a modular, mobile drilling and workover rig; designed to be flexible and efficient both in its adaptability to existing or new platforms and in operation.

The modular rig comprises three optional elements for maximum  flexibility and operator choice:

Basic Rig
Weight  : approx 430 T
Footprint : 6m x 12m
Pull  : 400 sT

Active Mud System
Weight  : approx 250 T
Footprint : 7,2m x12m
Capacity : 660 bbls

Power Generation System
Weight  : approx 250 T
Footprint : depending of rig-up/layout
Capacity : 3 x 1.2 MW

Key features & benefits

Operational

  • Rig-up/down in 14 days
  • All modules can be stripped to max lift weight of 11 ton
  • Good slot access owing to small footprint
  • Mud system can be rigged up on either side of the rig ("mirrored")
  • Max pulling capacity of 400 sT
  • Push (snubbing) capacity of 100 sT
  • Rack and pinion drive
  • Run all tubulars (2 3/8" - 20") using the same machine (Unitong)
  • Operates Range III drillpipe
  • Low POB (8 + 8)
  • Remote operated/automated pipe handling systems
  • CCTV system (10 cameras)
  • All drilling data can be transferred in real-time via the web
  • Vibration monitoring of all larger motor bearings
  • Meets UK and Norwegian Shelf Regulations (Norsok Standards

HSE

  • No manriding operations required
  • Design reduces equipment aloft , so less potential for dropped objects
  • High level of automation/remotely operated equipment enables unmanned drill floor in normal drilling
  • Bolting operations during rig-up/down reduced to a minimum by extensive use of quick-connectors
  • CCTV system (10 cameras in critical areas)
  • No use of scaffolding during rig-up/down
  • No additional rig-up for casing running needed
  • Closed drain system
