The procedure
- Where no platform crane exists, installation prior to rig-up can be undertaken by Seawell's Drilling Facility Engineering division
- Where a platform crane exists and is available, the Seawell Modular Rig can generally be installed onboard the platform in around 14 days (excluding weather and other factors outside Seawell's control)
- During the rig-up phase offshore, a team of Seawell and Streicher engineers (typically 20 people) will be deployed. It's important, in this phase, that close co-operation with the Client representatives is maintained. Usually, 3-5 supply vessel arrivals/loads will be required (depending on the size of installation) to bring the modules to the platform
- Rig-up will be performed in a safe and efficient way and will be based on the detailed plan developed in the planning phase. This includes an efficient planning and handling of all necessary work permits, HSE briefings, SJA, etc
Safety considerations
Design and procedural features help to secure safe and efficient rig-up and operation
- No scaffolding is required
- Special quick connectors for structural parts reduce bolting to a minimum
- Quick connectors fitted to all low pressure piping
- Unique (foolproof) electrical/instrument connectors
- Interfaces already indentified and prepared, securing quick, efficient hook-up to platform systems
- Procedures require no work aloft
- No man-riding required
- Thoroughly planned offshore commissioning
