GU hydrostatic running tool

Non-pyrotechnical setting system for bridge plugs, cement retainers and packers

The GU hydrostatic running tool is non-pyrotechnical setting system, which simplifies well intervention work and reduces costs. The primary use for the tool is for running bridge plugs, cement retainers, retrievable bridge plugs, packers and gauge hangers. The simple design makes this tool a preferred solution for field personnel and client representatives.

After placing the BHA on the desired setting depth, a valve assembly is actuated by either a timer or a trigger. This allows hydrostatic well pressure to enter the tool, giving an axial force which strokes out the Hydrostatic running tool.

For shallow set equipment and wells with low hydrostatic pressure, a nitrogen pressure chamber can be fitted to boost the setting pressure.

Key features

  • Deployed using slickline or e-line
  • Compatible with standard E4 Size 05, 10 and 20 tools
  • Modular design delivers high setting force even with low pressure
  • No specific training or expertise is required to run and redress the assembly
  • Easily split in to short sections, making it ideal for air transportation
